Todd's thoughts on the future of the built environment: “Most of today’s healthcare spaces were products of the Hill Burton Act era – money became available for construction and modernization by the landmark 1946 program which fueled vast expansion of (new) facilities which - for the most part - are still in service today.  Hospitals have withstood deferred maintenance and attempts to renovate and innovate and renovate and innovate.  I enjoy slowing the pace down and really helping our clients navigate facility optimization given constraints in operating margins and available capital for re-investment.  We understand the built space – its sensitivities, influences and risks to patients, and how staff can best work in a 24 hour fast-paced operation.  We also help executives know how to push their portfolios to the limit or when it makes sense to appeal for new money, new buildings, and new real estate. Prioritizing projects while being cost conscious and listening to consumer/market demands for hospitality, creativity, and modern healthcare delivery is at the core of what we do.  The future of healthcare and the built environment is technology heavy in a slimmer reimbursement environment that doesn’t always financially support the real kind of progress our communities expect and our patients require.”
